Y'know the father of electricity and the lightbulb?Yes, I mean Nikola Tesla

Yeah, the unspoken genius, Nikola Tesla. Edison might've made direct current, the biggest waste of electricity in the world, but Tesla made alternating current, which we use now. Here's how it happened : Tesla thought of alternating current and knew it was going to be a great success, but not from his home country of Hungary. So he went to America, and someone recommended him to Edison.Whoever did the recommendation financially slaughtered Edison.Edison promised Tesla fifty-thousand dollars to fix Edison's Generator and make some patents I don't quite remember.Thing is though, after Tesla was done, Edison told him to get an American sense of humor. Tesla resigned the minute he said that. Tesla was then found by George Westinghouse, who hearing about alternating current, sponsored Tesla's idea.Of course Thomas couldn't let that happen and went around campaigning about how unsafe alternating current was. He showed this by shocking animals using alternating current.At one point he killed an Elephant with it.He even got Alternating current to be used in the electric Chair.Messed up stuff to prove something eh?But that aside Tesla had been making huge cash off of it.And when the world's fair in new york came around they wanted it to be powered with alternating current.But they had to have light bulbs.Edison forbid Tesla to use his design.So Tesla invented the flourecent light.For those of you who don't know what it is, it is different from Edison's lightbulb because it uses a glass filament.If you work in an office it's the long one in a plastic cover on the ceiling.Tesla's design is actually more effecient then Edison's.If you use the energy effecient lightbulb you are using Tesla's design.All the energy is converted to light, while none is converted to heat.In Edison's design ninety-eight percent of the energy was given off as heat (that's why ladybugs get burned on your lightbulbs in the winter.).I'm going to leave out the other things that Tesla invented and the copyright war with Marconi.

As for the debate, Tesla invented two things we still use today.Edison invented thousands of things and only a handful worked.Which do you think was the better inventor?
